ZFL Teaching

ZFL runs a comprehensive teaching program on remote sensing, which is subscribed as "teaching on demand". It ranges from:

  • regular colloquia with external speakers,
  • a semi-annual workshop with presentations of current research activities and projects,
  • a weekly technical seminar for internal exchange of information, tools and programme codes,
  • lectures and exercises as well as advanced classes about remote sensing topics

ZFL coordinators are also in charge of the profile focus "Geomatik" of the Department of Geography of Bonn University. Thus, they are also involved in regular teaching.

Teaching beyond the regular program can be arranged according to capacities. ZFL staff teaches GIS basics (annual one week course) within the ZEF doctoral program.

The 2012 PhD block course of the United Nations University, Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) took place in cooperation with the University of Bonn and the Institute of Geography (GIUB) at ZFL. ZFL and GIUB organized and accomplished the geomatics part of the course, including lectures about remote sensing and GIS as well as developing an emergency scenario as practical part.

Courses like the examples above are a very welcome opportunity for exchange of knowledge.
